If you're like most tuning enthusiasts, you’ve probably made some modifications to the suspension on your ride already. Ride height, control, handling, and road feel matter to performance enthusiasts, and it’s possible you’ve already got a B12 ProLine or Sportline Bilstein Suspension Kit installed on your vehicle. The B14 Suspension Kit is the next logical step for drivers interested in taking their ride from street racing level to into the realms of motorsport. Here’s why you want a Bilstein B14 Suspension kit for your ride.
There’s a few reasons to upgrade to the B14, but they all come down to the same thing: performance. Unlike the B12 kits, B14 kits offer a greater flexibility of ride height for a lifted all-terrain ride and a super-low track-day ride. Additionally, B14 Suspension Kits offer a more connected road feel and superior customizable ride and handling. Let’s examine the specs to better understand all the advantages of a B14 Suspension Kit.
Go lower or higher than ever before without sacrificing performance or road feel. The B14 has exceptional flexibility for a street performance suspension kit, and the design has been torture tested in the extreme conditions of motorsport road testing to create this peak performance regardless of configuration.
Prefer the smoother, rail-like glide of a twin-tube gas pressure suspension? Bilstein has you covered. Want the wilder, stronger road feel of a monotube gas pressure suspension? The B14 can do that, too.
Need to tweak your suspension before tackling a new stretch of road or a new club track? All you need is the right hand tools and a few minutes to alter your front and rear suspension height.
A Bilstein specialty, Triple-C Tech is a superior performance triple-layer coating to protect your suspension tubes and springs from rust and grit. Even after 600+ hours in a salt spray chamber, the Triple-C Technology coating remained unaffected. Layer 1 is a zinc alloy providing excellent adhesion and corrosion protection, Layer 2 is a complete sealing of Layer 1’s zinc base, and Layer 3 is added to provide ultimate protection from mechanical wear and corrosion damage.
Are you ready to get maximum street performance for your ride? Replace your street or factory suspension kit with a Bilstein B14 Suspension Kit, and get ready to experience the smooth and powerful handling that has become a Bilstein trademark for over sixty years.
Your car’s suspension matters almost as much as what tyres you mount or what type of wheels you install. Suspension controls your car’s handling, drive feel, responsiveness, and ride comfort. Anyone looking to get the best performance out of their car should be investing in a precision engineered suspension that suits both their budget and driving style. Discriminating gearheads know that Bilstein is the first and last name in performance suspension, and they have been for well over a century.
Today, Bilstein is internationally known for engineering and building the most advanced performance car suspension for everything from sedans and SUVs to high performance race cars. As fate would have it, they didn’t actually get their start in precision vehicle suspension, but in the world of metal window fittings. Selling their excellent metal window fittings under the name AUBI (a clever adaptation of founder Augustus Bilstein’s name), they rapidly began to gain a a global reputation for both precision and excellence in metalworking.
Building on this success, Bilstein began to develop an array of technical marvels. Their patent catalogue began to grow, and their innovations laid a solid foundation for what was still a young company in 1919. It was in this year that Bilstein started their first strip iron rolling mill to meet the ever-increasing demand for their precisions metalwork and machining. It was around this time that Augustus Bilstein’s son Hans returned to Germany to assume control of company operations after completing his education in the United States.
Hans was the driving force behind the company’s new nickel and chromium plating processes, and it was he who began to transform the company into the powerhouse of automotive engineering it would become. Beginning in 1927, Hans Bilstein partnered with the Berlin-based lifting gear manufacturer Levator-Hebezeuge-Fabrik to manufacture various car accessories. Within a year, Bilstein was supplying the chrome-plated bumpers that would grace the front and rear end of the first generation of German mass-produced cars. The following year they would go on to manufacture of portable car jacks that could be kept in the car and used by the roadside in the event that a tire blew while out on the roadway. This would prove to be just the start for Bilstein however.
1954 marks the year that Bilstein came into its own with the development of their innovative suspension system and vibration self-dampening shocks. The company poured its development capital, time, and resources into developing their technology and the production infrastructure necessary to mass produce it. Their first monotube gas pressure shock absorber system was installed in a Mercedes-Benz production car, an innovation still considered a landmark automotive engineering event that made cars safer and more comfortable to drive.
Production facilities have been upgraded and expanded and suspension systems continue to evolve and improve, but the heart of what makes Bilstein who they are hasn’t changed a bit. Car manufacturers and performance race car builders continue to clamor for Bilstein products and technological developments to improve their own designs.Even after they were acquired by ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG in 1988, Bilstein has continued to lead the way in suspension technology innovations.
Automotive performance engineering and racing teams like Mercedes-Benz AMG continue to use Bilstein suspension kits exclusively, and many endurance and performance racing teams who compete at Nurburgring each year also rely on Bilstein to continually improve both their cars’ safety and performance levels. It is the racing world and high performance car companies that continue to inspire engineers at Bilstein to push the envelope further. They continue to keep those racing teams and manufacturers constantly expanding their understanding of the possible as they develop and manufacture record-setting technology and manufacture custom suspension systems for every possible implementation.
The rich history and traditions of Bilstein have led to new and improved car suspension and an ever-expanding idea of what can be accomplished with precision design and uncompromising manufacturing standards. No matter what they have built since 1873, they have carried on their tradition of excellence in design and manufacturing. The podium finishes riding on Bilstein suspension continues to grow each year, and racing teams the world over continue to accept nothing less than Bilstein’s most exceptional shock absorbers.
